Dear Piano Parents,
Students in grades one through six are invited to participate in the Elementary Music Festival, which will be held Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 in Duerkson Fine Arts Center on the WSU campus. In the past, it has been a motivating and fun event for piano students.
Each student will play one memorized piece for the adjudicator, and will receive a rating of their performance on a scale from one to five. After the student has played, the adjudicator will work individually with each student in a mini-lesson. The student will have their own alotted time slot, which is assigned a couple of weeks before the festival. (In the past, each student was assigned a 15-minute time slot, and I assume it will be similar this year.)
If you would like to have your child perform in this festival, I will need the following:
● $8.00 entrance fee by January 11. I am required to send just one check for all of my students, so you may include the fee in January’s lesson payment if that is easier for you.
● Do you have a specific day/time request? (It begins at 1:00 on both days.) The organizers will try to grant those requests, but cannot make any guarantees.
● The student needs to write in the number of each measure of the piece they will be performing, for the adjudicator’s reference. I will be sending in the registration form and fees on January 11.
If you have any questions, please call or email me.
Thanks!
